Drs. Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson will start the Conference off with a Keynote on why Attachment, Differentiation and Neuroscience matter in Couples Therapy. Skillful integration of these approaches will enable you to more calmly manage couples hostility, outrageous demands and conflict/intimacy avoidance.
Participants will receive an overview of RLT, a potent form of couples therapy which offers clients a map and specific set of skills that enable them to live relationally – that is, in a state of authentic connection to themselves, those they love, society, nature, and Spirit.
RLT replaces the individualistic and patriarchal delusion of power over nature with “ecological wisdom.” Our relationships are our biosphere. We live within them, not above them.
RLT offers a practical “relational technology” that delivers on our cultures brand new ambition- a truly intimate life-long romance.
A coherent science on attachment now offers therapists a map for self and relational system that cogently outlines both dysfunction and health – and how to lead clients from one to the other. This presentation will outline the strengths of this integrating framework as a general and specific in-session guide for individual, couple and family therapy, focusing on the map it offers for affect regulation, cognitive restructuring and behavior change.
In this presentation, Dr. Helen Neville will present the Psychology of Radical Healing framework. The heuristic is designed to describe the ways in which Black, Indigenous, and People of Color engage in individual and collective healing from identity based wounds. She will focus her discussion on the dimension of radical hope. After highlighting research findings, she will describe current interventions that promote specific aspects of radical healing. Specific practice recommendations will be offered.
Dr. Minuchin will show segments from a first session he conducted with a family, highlighting the concepts that underlie the techniques; the ways that he, as the therapist, assess his interventions; and the impact the family has on him.
Together, we will explore the implications of Body-oriented psychotherapy and recent findings in the neurosciences, on how the brain and body deals with emotional information, while also providing an understanding of effective therapeutic action. This training is geared for psychotherapists of all types, as well as for physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, bodyworkers, and educators.
