By being in the liminal space, that place where boundaries dissolve and we stand on the threshold of moving across the limit of what we were and into what we are to be, we burst into creativity and expansive perception. This workshop focuses on methods to achieve deep trance liminality through hypnosis, alpha/theta training, audio/visual entrainment and meditation.
Based on two models developed and implemented by Dr. Mills, this experiential workshop provides restorative approaches for expanding individual therapy to community healing after disaster. Cultural diversity, natural healing, spirituality, storytelling and “story crafts” will be utilized to demonstrate how to reawaken innate resiliency. Inherent in the models being addressed are the philosophies of Milton Erickson, Native Americans, Hawaiians and other transcultural teachings, along with the principles of play therapy.
This workshop will discuss differences between healing and treatment, and the incorporation of healing into standard psychotherapy. Methods of interweaving healing and spirituality with treatment interventions will be discussed and demonstrated in an experiential format. Exercises will be given so participants can create and experience aspects of healing useful in therapy.
Given the increasing popularity of spirituality in the culture, this workshop will address the relationship of spirituality to mental health. We will combine discussion with experiential exercises demonstrating practical methods of spiritual inquiry. Participants will learn to identify common problems associated with spirituality and strategies for encouraging healthy spiritual growth.
In a world that is becoming more and more global and diverse, the need for a multicultural understanding of human experience is vital, especially for health care providers. Spirituality and religion are important elements of the culture. Spirituality and religion play a very important role in shaping how people are, the way they deal with birth and death, marriage and family, etc., and what is disease and how to cure it.
Balancing the emotions and a transformational visualization are two visualizations that permit patients to actively work on pressing life issues during and between therapy sessions. Each visualization will finish with a musical composition by Ray Lynch that enhances the effectiveness and purpose of the visualization.

The subtle body is the bridge between the physical body and the spirit. There will be a brief discussion of Embodied Soul and its use with addictions, eating disorders and co-dependant relationships. Then, in this experiential personal development program, participants will work with the transformation of personal dream images to "open" the body. It is recommended that participants bring a blanket or coat for simple meditation exercises that will be conducted lying on the floor.
Meditation is a useful tool for therapy and for life. This experiential workshop describes meditation's roots in the ancient traditions of Yoga, Buddhism, Zen and Taoism. It will develop the mental tools used when meditating with exercises. Participants will be shown how to meditate and apply the result to stress, habits, emotions and learning.
