Latinos experience many life transitions spanning from migration, acculturation, attaining higher education, and the ongoing process of personal development. Competencies to work in culturally responsive ways include: understanding the collective identities of Latinos, assessing barriers, using culturally relevant tools, exploring Latino worldviews, and applying appropriate interventions.
This session explores various methods for eliciting hypnotic trance in a therapy situation. The relevance of utilizing key aspects of a client's resources and symptoms, as well as different ways to gage and incorporate ongoing feedback will be emphasized.
Adler's ideas are at the base of brief integrative couples therapy. This program will discuss the concepts of Adler and show how they are applied with video segments taken from actual interviews. The four steps of ABCT, engagement, assessment, insight and reorientation, will be discussed.
Gestalt therapy and Ericksonian hypnotherapy are experiential methods of change. In combination they can be synergistic. Psychotherapy is best when clients have a first-hand experience of an alive therapeutic process. Such dynamic empowering experiences pave the way for dynamic understandings. Drs. Polster and Zeig will engage with each other and the participants to examine commonalities and differences in their work.

This workshop will explore how physical and somatically oriented techniques, such as spatial sorting, centering and "Somatic Syntax" can be used to help clients discover and internalize lasting solutions to a variety of problem situations.

The means to uncovering these intrinsic aspects of self, and the blocks to their recognition, are intrinsic to all the world's wisdom traditions.
This workshop will focus on providing treatment strategies clinicians and other human services providers can use in their work with youth who are troubled by circumstances that complicate the negotiation of the "normal developmental struggles" of adolescence. A framework for understanding adolescents who are prone toward angry, aggressive and explosive behaviors will be presented. Specific strategies for enhancing effective assessment, engagement and treatment with troubled adolescents will be provided.
Presented will be a teaching tape on the values and perils of therapist-oriented (undifferentiated) eclecticism. The therapist, whether he likes it or not, is a model for the family. An unsure therapist is a poor model when a well defined family is a goal.
