Hunter "Patch" Adams, MD
Founder and Director of the Gesundheit Institute, a holistic medical community in West Virginia that has provided free medical care to thousands of patients since it began in 1971. A renowned medical doctor, social activist, professional clown, as well as the subject of the block-buster film Patch Adams, Dr. Adams is author of Gesundheit, which chronicles his ideas about the U.S. Health Care System. Having devoted his life to the study of what makes people happy, Patch Adams believes that laughter, joy and creativity are an integral part of the healing process.
