If our futures are informed by our pasts, what do we stand to learn from those masters who came before us? In the Grandmasters' Approaches to Psychotherapy, Dr. Jeffrey Zeig will be your tour guide in exploring the wisdom and exceptional insights of some of the brightest minds to ever grace the field of psychotherapy. These in-depth lectures cover the most vital elements of their individual styles, and will bring them all together to reveal what learnings we can take away in our modern practice.
Ellyn will present a video of a first session with a couple about to separate after a third discovered infidelity. The session, conducted by Ellyn Bader and Peter Pearson focuses on illuminating how one partner’s unresolved family of origin issues create pain for both partners, contribute to infidelity and inhibit the development of the relationship. After the video presentation, Janis Spring will comment. We all learn more when we see therapeutic work discussed from multiple perspectives.
Dr. Burns will describe disturbing new research on the accuracy - or lack of accuracy - or clinician's perceptions of how our patients feel - and how they feel about us. He will illustrate new, brief, highly accurate assessment instruments that can dramatically boost your clinical understanding and effectiveness.
The session shown is of an unedited live consultation where the previous withdrawn male partner is now accessible and the therapist works with the inability of the female partner to trust, reach and engage with her mate. The session explicitly shows how the therapist works with blocks to the creation of key new responses and shapes bonding moments. This is a classic illustration of Stage 2 EFT in action and shows the moment to moment creation of secure connection. Therapist interventions will be outlined and discussed.
