This "playshop" will consist of experiential clinician development exercises. While it is widely agreed that the person of the therapist is central to patient change, there are limited methods for developing ways to BE a therapist. This program centers on eliciting and developing therapist acuity. Dr. Zeig will present a systemic modeling method that can be easily transferred to make therapy and supervision more powerfully experiential.
Conducting brief therapy places additional and special burdens on the person of the therapist. This workshop puts the Socratic dicta of "know thyself" and "heal thyself" into practice. We shall focus on 12 self-care strategies that are clinician-recommended, research-based and practitioner-tested. Come join us for focused lectures, copious handouts, group demonstrations, thought experiments, interactive discussions and participants' own material.
Psychotherapy has the lowest remuneration among all health professions, according to U.S. Labor statistics. Most practices are languishing, while others are prospering. What are the elements that make the difference between success and failure? Hear from psychotherapy's leading entrepreneur how innovation and its implementation can not only change your practice, but also enable you to make a difference.
Through the special focus which therapy technique induces, therapists often lose touch with the power of such ordinary experiences as humor, friendliness, self-disclosure, approval/disapproval, banter, etc. via a live therapy session, Polster will show how these exchanges may join technique to tighten up the therapy experience and speed up the process.
