The panelist will compare and contrast their approaches to working with children and adolescents. Fundamental principles will be offered. Relevant research will be outlined.

 

Educational Objectives:

  1. Describe three fundamental principals of working with children and adolescents.
  2. Given a patient who is a child, create an Ericksonian treatment plan.
  3. List two research studies relevant to the treatment of children and adolescents using a brief therapy model.

Tobi Goldfus, LCSW-C, BCD, is a therapist, author, and national and international teacher and speaker. Her book “From Real Life to Cyberspace and Back Again: Helping Our Young Clients Develop a Strong Inner Selfie” (2017) is a subject she is passionate about. She also focuses on the online traumatic experiences young people can have, providing assessment tools, hypnotherapy and somatic experiencing techniques to heal and create a positive balance between online and real life. She is a contributor to the recently published “Ericksonian Therapy Now: The Master Class with Jeffrey K. Zeig, Ph.d (2017). Her graduate and post-graduate training have included family and systems therapy, ego state and somatic experiencing, and extensive Ericksonian hypnotherapy models. She is a member of ASCH (American Society of Clinical Hypnosis), ISH (International Society of Hypnosis), NASW (National Association of Social Workers) and a Board Certified Diplomat (BCD). Tobi is in private practice in Germantown, Maryland.

Lynn Lyons is a psychotherapist in Concord, New Hampshire specializing in the treatment of anxiety
disorders in adults and children for over 30 years.

Lynn speaks about anxiety, its role in families, and the need for a preventative approach at home
and in schools. She is a featured expert in the 2023 documentary Anxious Nation and has appeared
in the New York Times, Time, NPR, Psychology Today, Good Morning America, Today, and other
media outlets.  

She is the co-host of the popular podcast Flusterclux. 

Lynn has authored several books and articles on anxiety, including The Anxiety Audit, Anxious Kids,
Anxious Parents, and the companion book for kids, Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens
and Kids (with Reid Wilson.)

Susy Signer-Fischer, Lic. Phil., is a psychologist and psychotherapist FSP, specializing in working with children, adolescents and adults. She works at the Institute for Developmental and Personality Psychology at the University of Basel in Switzerland and is also in private practice in Basel and Bern. Susy was director of the Family and Educational Counseling Centre in Basel, Switzerland for the past ten years. She is a supervisor and trainer in psychotherapy, mainly in hypnotherapy, psychotherapy for children, adolescents, families and couples. She is the past-president and founding member of the Swiss Society of Clinical Hypnosis (GHypS).
