Description:

PTSD is a clinical problem that may be a covert cause of hypnotherapy failure. Paradoxically, hypnotherapy has been proven useful for treatment, even prior to the formal description of diagnosis. The main features and case results of this program, which has been successfully applied in clinical research and practice, will be presented.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Given a patient, detect PTSD and utilization areas useful for hypnotherapy.
  2. To describe two hypnotic techniques for PTSD hypnotherapy.

Jorge Abia, MD, has been the co-director of the Milton H. Erickson Institute of Mexico City since 1989. Dr. Abia has training in internal medicine, family therapy, and Ericksonian hypnotherapy, and has 25 years of experience as an Ericksonian hypnotherapy clinician, teacher, researcher and programs designer. He is co-author of a 1,500 page teaching program and author of a self-hypnosis book.
