Description

Description: Rather than relying on linear thinking, this session invites therapists to work from imagination, play, and second-order change. Using Ericksonian trance, paradox, and design principles, it shows how to abstract to the essence of a problem and open new directions when clients or clinicians feel stuck. Through experiential exercises, metaphor, and vivid clinical examples, the work treats imagination as a practical clinical skill that expands choice, engagement, and possibility in therapy.

Syllabus Description: Our healing art begins within our hearts and imagination. Artful solutions leap beyond straight-line logical thinking. Ideating, from architectural design, is a structured process that responsibly generates solutions, artfully aspiring to heal mind, body and spirit. This creative playground offers "imagination igniting" skills. The stages of ideating will be taught.

Educational Objectives:

  1. To describe how to direct the inner trance state to more fully access imagination.
  2. To describe two "imagination igniting" trance skills.
