Description

Living Larger (Than Yourself): Leveraging Allocentric Bias

Why do people sometimes prioritize belonging and approval over their own needs—and how can that drive be redirected toward growth? This experiential workshop explores allocentric bias, the natural pull toward closeness, acceptance, and social harmony, and shows you how to channel it into healthy, prosocial change.

In this course, you’ll learn how conformity pressures can either limit authenticity or support meaningful contribution, depending on how they’re structured. Through Ericksonian case studies and interactive roleplay, you’ll practice three Choice Architecture strategiesActs of Kindness, Moral Cleansing, and Status Leveling—to transform the need to belong into cooperation, responsibility, and purposeful action.

What you’ll get from attending:

  • Clear ways to recognize allocentric bias in client emotions, thoughts, and behavior

  • Practical tools for guiding cooperation without encouraging over-compliance

  • Techniques for turning belonging needs into prosocial motivation

  • Strategies for balancing social connection with authentic self-expression

  • Hands-on learning through case examples and roleplay exercises

This workshop is ideal for professionals who want to help clients live larger than themselves—supporting connection, contribution, and growth without sacrificing autonomy or identity.
