Description: This clinical demonstration offers a rapid tour through fifty brain scans that reveal the links between brain function, behavior, and mental health. Participants learn how imaging can uncover hidden causes of emotional and relational problems—from trauma and toxins to sleep issues and head injuries—and how targeted interventions can restore balance. The session inspires a new way of thinking about psychotherapy, showing that healing the brain transforms lives.
Syllabus Description: Based on the world's largest database of brain SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) scans, Dr. Amen will teach attendees about brain SPECT imaging and then show 50 cases in 60 minutes, including cases of depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, traumatic brain injury, addiction, and dementia.
