This workshop will explain how solution-focused brief therapy can be used in a marathon session format to assist couples and families during turbulent points of their relationship. The workshop will highlight the structure and intricacies of solution-focused marathon sessions. By utilizing this format only one or two sessions may be necessitated. With Michael Reiter and Arlene Brett-Gordon.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Explain how solution-focused brief therapy can be practiced using marathon sessions.
  2. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of doing solution-focused brief therapy in a marathon session format.

Dr. Michael Reiter earned his Masters and Doctoral degrees from The George Washington University and completed his pre-doctoral internship at Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He then served as program psychologist in a pediatric and adolescent clinic at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Reiter subsequently worked with adolescents, young adults, and families at Alvord, Baker and Associates, in Rockville, MD. He currently sees clients in his private practice in Rockville, Maryland. Dr. Reiter lives in Maryland with his wife, two children, and two dogs.
